Kolkata - Kiwi Rugby Exchange Gala Dinner

The Kolkata-Kiwi Rugby Exchange Dinner. Here is where you can accept our invite and join us for a wonderful night of enterainment. Be part of something special and unique.

Join us at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre

Join us at Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre for an evening of sport, entertainment, food and drink, international relations and networking — and the chance to mix and mingle with well-known rugby players from both past and present!

This project is about creating opportunity and empowerment for young people by connecting two groups of young women from vastly different worlds through our shared love of rugby and the spirit of our beautiful game.

The Kolkata–Kiwi Exchange is far more than a sporting exchange; at its heart it is about sharing. Sharing culture, sharing the warmth and Mana in our communities, sharing inspiration and encouragement and sharing opportunity.

It is a project grounded in connection and possibility: broadening horizons, nurturing empathy, and helping young people see themselves as part of a wider global community. At its core, it is about building global goodwill through the unifying power of sport.

This project is about providing life-changing experiences for Christchurch and Indian youth. About empowering young people, bringing divergent cultures together and about promoting global goodwill.

It is wonderful to have an opportunity to do good here in New Zealand AND to be able to do good at a global level. Your help could empower young girls on both sides of the world, offering them a future, an education and a chance to widen their horizons, and to able to do that through rugby, is a match made in heaven for Kiwis!

Led by former All Black Norm Maxwell and Christchurch educator and businessman Phil Robson, the Kolkata–Kiwi Exchange will bring a team of rugby-loving girls from India to New Zealand to experience Kiwi rugby culture first-hand.

They’ll train, play, and be hosted by local families — forming friendships that bridge continents. After their time in Aotearoa, a group of Christchurch students will travel to India, visiting the girls’ homes and communities in both Siliguri (a jungle village region) and Kolkata, as well as Delhi.

This two-way journey creates a meaningful exchange — giving every participant the chance to grow, to connect, and to discover new possibilities for themselves and their world.

You may have seen us on TV One News, and we are endorsed by the Sports Diplomacy Initiative and now we are a part of the 100 years of Sporting Ties Celebrations taking place in India and New Zealand next year.
