New Zealand High Commission to India and the KKeX
Matthew Ayers NZ Deputy High Commissioner to India
Our Kiwi delegation, Norm Maxwell, Paul Walsh and Phil Robson, travelled to Delhi to meet with Matthew and to talk about our project. We were warmly received and spent an hour or so at New Zealand House. This was a beautiful property with some wonderful Kiwi icons on display. One of the more special ones was the desk that Sir Edmund Hilliary worked behind when he served as the High Commissioner from 1985-1989.
Matthew Ayers - Deputy High Commissioner
The staff at New Zealand house were extremelty welcoming. Matthew was a Christchurch man having been schooled at Rangiora High School and new some of the teaching staff that I had known during my teaching career. Matthew was appointed Deputy Head of Mission in 2024. He was happy to talk on camera about our project and his offer of support. New Zealand had supported some of the work that Paul had been involved with the Future Hope School and gratefully accepted Paul's invitatation to visit some time in he future.
Patrick Rata - High Commissioner
We were fortunate enough to meet Patrick during our visit to New Zealand House. Towards the end of our visit, he walked into the embassy from a recent trip and stopped to say hello and hear about our project. He was an enthusiastic listner and we enjoyed an animated conversation that included some comments about the ARL final this year. Patrick was presented with a 2011 REC tee signed by the winning captain Richie McCaw.
